Recognize Signs of Anxiety Depression
Anxiety and depression
often go hand in hand. Symptoms of anxiety that don't resolve
themselves within a reasonable amount of time can lead people to
feelings of hopelessness and isolation. If left untreated, anxiety
depression can result. While anxiety can be described as any condition
that causes heightened senses that involve everything from common
stomach butterflies to uncontrollable panic or anxiety attacks,
depression anxiety can be caused by many factors. People unhappy with
their job or those who are often the brunt of inner-office jokes or
isolation experience symptoms of anxiety depression. People who have
difficulty making friends or socializing often suffer from anxiety
depression as well. Depression is commonly known as the 'common cold of
mental health'. Many people who suffer from anxiety depression do so
silently, because they're often ashamed to admit that they have what
others might construe as a 'mental problem'.
How can you tell if you or someone you know is suffering from anxiety
depression? There are several questions and factors to consider. Those
in an unhappy personal relationship are apt to suffer from anxiety
depression. Those who have recently experienced the death of a loved
one or even a pet can exhibit symptoms of anxiety depression. Losing a
job or being unemployed are other key factors. Uncertainty and stress
can also cause anxiety depression for those whose jobs demand team
performance or are highly competitive. Watching others around you earn
promotions or accolades is often one of the major causes of anxiety
depression. The frequency of states of anxiousness or depression as
well as their severity should be considered. Are these feelings of
anxiety depression experienced on a daily level or only occasionally?
We all have periods where we experience anxiety depression, or the
blues or end up in a funk, but more often than not, we're able to pull
out of them. Another thing to ask, is how long do these episodes last?
A few hours, days, weeks?
In many cases, it's difficult to determine which came first, the
depression or the anxiety. Treating anxiety depression can only begin
when the person recognizes that there's a problem. Some people
suffering from anxiety depression don't even realize that they're
gradually shutting out family and friends and that their eating habits
have changed. Things that used to bring pleasure are left behind and a
general yet overwhelming sense of 'blasé' results.
Anxiety depression doesn't have to take over. Treatments and self-help
methods are available to help those who find themselves slowly losing
touch with themselves. If you recognize signs of anxiety depression
becoming more prevalent in your daily life, don't ignore them; do
something about them. If you have to, force yourself to maintain a
healthy, balanced diet. Try to get enough sleep and exercise, which can
do wonders for your sense of well being. Acknowledge your anxiety, and
try to identify the cause of it and then make an effort to do something
about it. Try to develop skills that will help you manage and deal with
anxiety and stress. Most importantly, don't shut out family and
friends. They are your first line of defense against feelings of
anxiety depression.
